Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe
Yesterday photographer Dmitry Zhuravlev shared a series of archival photographs featuring the famous Russian artist Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe. Zhuravlev said that this was Vladislav's last project – the artist died in 2013 without completing work on it.
In the photo shoot, he tried on two images: actress Marlene Dietrich and singer Amy Winehouse.
Vlad said that he loves to embody the images of the departed in order to allow them to visit this world one more time,
– said Zhuravlev.

Dmitry spoke about the fate of this shooting. The project, on which they worked together with Vladimir Bardo, remained unfinished for tragic reasons. Zhuravlev sent the pre-selected photographs to Vlad so that he could make the final selection. The artist promised to continue working on the project (it was planned to make a few more shots in other characters) after his return from Bali, where he spent a lot of time in recent years. But he never returned from there – Mamyshev-Monroe drowned in the hotel pool.
The shooting continued to lie in the folder “in progress”, firstly, because it was sad to contact her, and secondly, Vlad did not make the final selection,
– said Dmitry.
Vladislav Mamyshev-Monroe was a famous Soviet and Russian drag artist (these are men who use female images and clothes and put on vibrant music shows). He was known for his transformation into famous women. Vladislav died at the age of 43.
