Fashion Week ends in Paris today, and the morning of the final day of this marathon traditionally began with heavy fashion “artillery” – the Chanel show. The public saw the show in the style of the 1980s and early 1990s shows. The guests of the show were Kristen Stewart, Lily-Rose Depp, Charlotte Casiraghi and others.
Virginie Viard seems to be tired of criticizing her collections. And the exits of celebrities associated with the fashion house have recently evoked all kinds of feelings, from bewilderment to pity, but definitely not delight and admiration. It is worth remembering and Penelope Cruz at the Venice Film Festival in a dress that significantly changed her proportions (and not for the better, of course), and “bandaged” Margot Robbie, and Kristen Stewart with Lily-Rose Depp in peignoirs on the red carpet.
Thinking what to do with all this, Viard, it seems, decided to start from the beginning – with the feat of Karl Lagerfeld, who, sometime in the 1980s, managed to create a real fashion extravaganza with daring and sexy collections on the basis of an old-fashioned and already very few people brand. who, following the supermodels on the catwalk, wanted to wear everything.
In short, Viard also decided to delve into the aesthetics of the 1980s and early 1990s and literally turn the show into a time portal leading to that era. Not only swimwear, belts and a massive body kit returned, but also cult music (the show featured George Michael's song Freedom! '90, which, thanks to the video, is inextricably linked with the era of supermodels). And the models themselves behaved exactly like their predecessors – they smiled, interacted with the public and paraded more relaxed. Even Kristen Stewart was smiling!
Viard tried to freshen up the impression of the collection with perky shades like pink and lavender, as well as frankly youthful styles of overalls, which were just at the height of fashion in the late 1980s and early 1990s thanks to the rise of hip-hop.
The whole idea behind this, apart from trying to play on a sense of nostalgia, is still difficult to consider, but at least this time the proportions do not pose such a threat to the figure – Penelope Cruz can breathe easy.

A black-and-white mini-film was created especially for the show, in which regular Chanel models starred, as well as the brand ambassador Lily-Rose Depp, who also tried on the role of a photographer. Which, of course, can also be considered a tribute to Lagerfeld, who is known to have often filmed Chanel campaigns himself.
