Jamie Spears, 69, father of pop diva Britney Spears, has been her guardian since 2008. Then the singer was declared partially incapacitated due to an unstable mental state and drug problems. But this year Britney has taken decisive action to become free again.

The singer spoke in court, where for the first time she told in detail in what conditions she had to live all these years, complained about the abuse by her father and demanded to cancel the guardianship.

Jamie Spears later said that he was ready to give up the role of guardian in the future, but did not name a specific date. And then he did say that the public was in vain against him and he deserves praise for his work.

But now it seems like Britney can finally rejoice! It looks like her father made a decision after all. So, it became known that Jamie Spears filed documents with the Los Angeles Supreme Court to terminate custody of his daughter.

The statement said that “the circumstances have changed to the point where there may no longer be any grounds for maintaining guardianship,” therefore Britney “has the right to have the court seriously consider” the case. In addition, the documents note that the singer does not need to undergo a psychological examination to end custody of her. Recall that in her appeal to the court, Britney just complained about endless sessions of psychotherapy and demanded that she be freed from custody without an expert examination.

The next court hearing on this case is scheduled for September 29.

Recall that earlier Britney's father demanded from her two million dollars in compensation for his refusal to guardianship. Britney Spears herself filed a petition for termination of custody this summer, but then the court rejected her petition.

During her testimony in court, the pop star accused her family of lying, tight control and wanting to cash in on her. Britney said that a spiral was installed against her will so that she could not get pregnant, and that medical personnel were assigned to her, who were constantly in the singer's house. One of the singer's former guards also told the press that Britney was given powerful drugs such as lithium, which negatively affected her cognitive abilities.
