Yesterday, the founder of Telegram and co-founder of VKontakte, Pavel Durov, celebrated his 37th birthday. On this occasion, the Russian businessman, whose fortune is estimated at $ 17.2 billion, shared with fans another portion of his wisdom. In his telegram channel Durov's Channel, Pavel compiled a list of things that were underestimated and, on the contrary, too overrated.
Among the underestimated things, Durov included only three points – sleep, nature and loneliness. The list of things that people, according to Paul, attach too much importance, consists of seven points: it includes restaurants, fashion, social networks, megacities, hot weather, real estate and tips from the stars.
According to Durov, sleep increases immunity and develops creativity, nature is initially a comfortable environment for a person, and loneliness gives freedom for spiritual and intellectual impulses – all these things Paul considers not appreciated in the modern world.
As for the overvalued things, Pavel called megalopolises the first point. According to Durov, people in vain strive to live in big cities, because they are sources of heavy pollution, high crime rates and constant noise. The businessman himself, according to rumors, has been living in Dubai for many years.
It is good to have access to big cities, but it is advisable to live outside of them,
– says Durov.
Paul also opposes restaurants because he thinks they are the slowest and least efficient way to eat. According to Durov, food prepared at home is tastier and healthier. The businessman considers fashion to be exclusively a tribute to constantly changing trends and advises to dress in simple and comfortable clothes:
The endless pursuit of constantly changing trends is costly and in fact unnecessary. Focusing on comfortable clothes not only makes life easier, it also frees up space for the things that really matter.
Paul also speaks out against warm sunny weather: in his opinion, heat provokes lethargy, accelerates the aging process and increases the risk of cancer, while lower temperatures “cleanse the spirit, body and mind.”
Durov also considers the purchase of real estate unnecessary: renting a house, according to the businessman, gives him greater freedom to move and explore different places. The founder of Telegram also spoke out against social networks:
The relentless stream of social media garbage that clogs our minds makes us less happy and less creative. Disconnecting from internet services is the best thing we can do any day.
The last overrated thing Pavel Durov called the advice of the stars, which, ironically, he regularly gives on the Internet. Despite this, the billionaire advised to rely on science and expert opinion on the really important things.
Recall that on his last birthday, Pavel Durov made a similar list. Then the entrepreneur also told you point by point how to look younger than his age. On that list, he also mentioned sleep and loneliness, and also talked about the importance of avoiding alcohol and red meat and the need to exercise regularly.
